“Ruled by a sense of destiny…”

MACHETE is Robert Rodriguez’s character-brainchild from way-back and a cult hero of “Grindhouse” film fans the world over, played by bad-ass-bad-man Danny Trejo with a vengeance! From Steven Seagal’s Drug Lord killing Mexican Federale “Machete”‘s family from the get-go and then a colossal set-up by a corrupt State Senator (Deniro) with help coming from an Immigration Cop played by slinky-sexy-sass Jessica Alba….Machete has a life that’s not so bad because he’s got it all clocked! Rodriguez’s action-flavor is back and fans will enjoy the similar taste they enjoyed with FROM DUSK TILL DAWN and DESPERADO with it’s sexy fringe winking at us around every turn….and in this one, Jessica Alba doesn’t do full nudity and she didn’t have to!

Yee-friggin’ hah….just the way that woman’s clothes fit her lollipop body is enough to get the (primarily) male audience sitting up in their seats! Guns, babes, dark comedy, and a uniquely entertaining way of filmmaking makes this 2 hours of movie a delightful amount of time, kinda like sitting at a barbecue laughing and drinking with familiar friends.

Michelle Rodriguez’s performance in this film surpasses her ‘Avatar’ appearance because it suited her real personae, and Rodriguez has always cast interesting actors and actresses for his uniquely-scripted films, MACHETE being no exception!  Danny Trejo knocked the ball out of the park with his now-iconic role, and I daresay the gravel-voiced character “Machete” ranks right up there as probably the most memorable of 2010 and the year ain’t even over yet!

With the backdrop of illegal-immigration as the subplot, MACHETE is all the more suited for it’s theatrical release this year, though it’s light-hearted enough to not be taken seriously! I give it two thumbs-up while Jessica Alba slaps the cuffs on me.
