Back in 2001 Low Budget Pictures released Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker.  My world was changed forever…This movie is bad, it’s really bad, and forget low budget…its no budget.  HOWEVER! This movie has so much charm and comedic appeal, that I come back to a few times every year to watch it and laugh my ass off.  Plot’d simple,  Mulva is a candy addicted horror fanatic who with her side kick decides to go trick or treating.  Despite last years trick or treating torment with her run in and nemesis, Chest McLarge-Huge.

Their horribly acted journey forces them a run in with B-movie queen and resident hot ass hunnie – Debbie Rochon, and other residents of Tromaville including Lloyd Kaufman himself.  There is of course a sporadic zombie outbreak, which includes break dancing zombies that threaten the town and everyone in it.  The outbreak depletes the cast in violent comedic fashion and this is where the plot gets pretty incoherent. But that’s where the start of the fun begins! You get Mulva in a Ghostbusters outfit, a guy in a Dragon Ball-Z outfit with purposely badly dubbed English.

The director of the movie himself, Chris Seaver, plays one of the main characters. The funniest character of the group Mr.BoneJack, a white man who’s dressed up as an aging black man. Racist? Maybe a little bit, hilarious? Absolutely!! He is not without a Halloween costume as he goes dressed up as Bill Cosby. Eat the puddin!! Seriously though, it’s not a well done movie as Low Budget Pictures was a very young company. They have been constantly progressing and getting better and better throughout the years. The movie does have a lot of laughs and I mean a lot! Don’t watch a movie like this expecting your typical low budget zombie gorefest. You will be sorely disappointed.  But if you step into this short movie (coming it at barely over an hour), wanting some laughs and good entertainment on a small scale with tons of movie references tossed into the mix and more one liners than you can count on your hands and feet then Mulva is certainly for you!

Since it’s conception in 2001 there has been a sequel “Mulva 2: Kill Teenape”, and I’ve heard rumors of a 3rd Mulva in the works as well.  . I’ve seen the second and while the actress who played Mulva in part one is replaced by Debbie Rochon it’s still a great time and just as hilarious. I eagerly wait for part three!
