“No fate but what we make…”
The colossal fourth installment of THE TERMINATOR film series, SALVATION hits the ball into the future where the fabled John Connor and his human resistance force battles “Skynet” for the destiny of Planet Earth and humanity itself. With the sudden arrival of a Terminator-Infiltrator named Marcus who doesn’t know what happened to him after being put to death by lethal-injection (Worthington) the stakes are raised higher than John Connor could possibly handle unless fate is kind!
Ever since I first watched THE TERMINATOR back in 1984, I had wanted a sequel to show more of the “future war” where the human resistance dukes it out with the Terminators, HKs, and Skynet-Central in the ashes of the nuclear war that nearly killed everyone. All in all, TERMINATOR is an intriguing storyline from the first film to this one, especially when one thinks of how a time-line can be “changed” by one or two simple alterations via time-travel to the past!
TERMINATOR SALVATION is available in it’s original PG-13 theatrical edition on DVD now but also in it’s R-rated “Director’s Cut” edition on DVD and Blue-Ray as well and it’s the R-rated Director’s Cut that I prefer. What’s the big difference? Well it shows a bit more footage such as a gun being put to Connor’s head, a firefight with a T-1 Terminator and more importantly, a very welcome shot of actress Moon Bloodgood’s impressive breasts in the rainy night as she cleans up after being shot down by Skynet. (That woman is a stone-cold FOX and you can tell her I said so!).
Moon Bloodgood did a great job as the tough-chick A-10 pilot in TERMINATOR SALVATION (you may also find her in the 2007 film PATHFINDER where she looks absolutely delicious in her “Pocahontas” outfit!). TERMINATOR SALVATION adds a much-needed new addition to The Terminator franchise, its action and uncanny tale of how one’s humanity wins out against machine control making this film series worthy of continuing!
I give it two thumbs-up with a sucker punch to the Skynet mainframe.
